Last night in a keynote that lasted over one and a half hours, Google announced a number of new products and services, including new Pixel 3a phones. In case you missed it, here is a quick recap of IO 2019, complete with all the key announcements.
Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL
In India, the price of the Pixel 3a phones starts at Rs 39,999. The hardware is surely a notch down compared to what Google put in the Pixel 3, but the Pixel 3a phones get the same top class camera that is inside the more expensive Google phones. The Pixel 3a phones go on sale in India from May 15.
Nest Hub Max
After new Pixels, this was the second device announcement at the IO 2019. The Hub Max is a smart speaker with a huge 10-inch screen and a camera that will let users to video chats. It is going to cost $229, which is the global price, but for now, it's not coming to India.
However, Google did say that the Nest Hub, which is smaller with a 7-inch screen, is getting a price reduction to $129 and that it is going to come to India soon. Also, going forward all Home devices - that Google Home speaker - will use Nest branding. This means the next Google smart speaker could be called the Nest Speaker.

New Google Search experience
Google says that now it's not only about providing answers but also about letting people do more with its services. So it is bringing a couple of new features to Google Search. The new Google Search experience will come with features like augmented reality, which will let users look at what they searched, in a 3D virtual model. For example, if you search for shark you will be able to pull up an AR model of shark on your phone's screen. The Search also gets a more powerful Lens functionality, which will allow users to pull some neat tricks.
One such trick which Google talked about will be something like this: Point your's phone's camera using the Lens app at a restaurant's menu and the lens will not only translate the menu if needed but also pull up the images of the dish and whether people usually like it or not. The Lens will also help people who can't read get information because using lens people will be able to point their phone at a sticker or hoarding and then let the smart assistant in the phone speak what is written in the local language.
