Sonu Nigam's latest singles are spiritual numbers for Mahashivratri. "'Shiv Shankara' and 'Bam Bhole Bam' are my offerings to Lord Shiva, this Mahashivaratri. Personally, both the songs hold special importance for me as my mother was a great devotee of Shiva and I am dedicating these songs to her,” said the renowned Bollywood singer Sonu NIgam.
'Shiv Shankara' and 'Bam Bhole Bam', in association with Times Music, have been composed by the young and talented Bollywood composer-singer Shreyas Puranik. The renowned lyricist from Nepal Basant Chaudhary, has penned the lyrics for these singles.
'Shiv Shankara' has been shot in the scenic beauty of the Himalayas in the Pokhra region in Nepal, and features Sonu himself. The video encapsulates the essence of celestial Shiva. It showcases the fact that Shiva is realized through helping others and also through self-realization. The song starts with the divine and powerful Mahamritunjay mantra and Shiva chants and is about overcoming the five weaknesses of human personality, like - Kam (lust), Krodh (rage), Lobh (greed), Moh (attachment) and Ahankar (conceit) to awaken the inner self and attain moksha.
Composer Shreyas Puranik adds, “I am extremely delighted to work with Sonu ji on these projects. I have started off my career composing Lord Ganesha’s songs, these are my first spiritual singles devoted to Lord Shiva. The entire team has put in their hard work in the making of the songs. Also, filming the videos amidst the beautiful Himalayas in Nepal was a fantastic experience. I hope everyone will like the songs.”
Lyricist Basant Chaudhary said, “It's been a wonderful experience writing songs in the spiritual space for the first time. Being from Kathmandu, where Lord Pashupatinath is worshipped with utmost reverence, the writing just came naturally to me. It was also a great experience working with Sonu ji and with our industry's exceptional young talents like Shreyas.”
